Create Your Life, One Day at a Time

As you sleep, the work of making dawn come again is always underway. Natural forces turn the earth like clockwork and the sky lightens to a glow. Birds begin to sing. Color fills the landscape as sunbeams crest horizons. You do nothing to bring day about, but you wake up and routine needs fill your life. Day comes, cyclically.

However, no two mornings are alike. The earth tilts a fraction of a degree every day. The landscape is lit up from a new angle, new leaves cast new shadows, and the flight path of the bee is to a new garden.

What you wake to do may be pre-determined, yet variables that change the order, direction, or demeanor of accomplishments are practically guaranteed to come along. Sometimes they come sporadically, sometimes at an overwhelming rate.

Day is a canvas, a template, an opportunity. Life lived within each day is the work of creation - and your creative process will produce outcomes equivalent to the composition and integrity of the environment and practices you employ.

This Is Where Business Gets Personal …

Especially in entrepreneurship, you bring your whole self to the workplace where performance demands your all. Leaving yourself at the door to do routine work is not an option. You may be able to manage it for some time, but eventually the lag of authentic self will catch up with you. The true you is powerful. It should not be skirted, masked, or neglected.

Executive Entrepreneurial Skills temper you into who you are now and the environment you most immediately experience every day. They guide you to intentionally maintain and insert life-nurturing, tangible and intangible elements that develop the true self and the space you occupy immediately around you and in tangible environments. This simple set of refined skills heightens your sensitivity to what you value most and empowers you to navigate to your true self and create your optimal environment. It tunes you to your feelings, creating peace and fulfillment, which are motivating in and of themselves to maintain this authentic personal position.

Creation requires simple components to flourish. These always end up including kindness, safety, elements that sustain authenticity. This condition of your environment welcomes thoughts, habits, relationships, surroundings, and more that meet your needs to perform and achieve fulfillment. It makes you more capable of making decisions and carrying out tasks at a much more successful rate, bring others along with you, as well..

… and Community, All At Once…

Business ownership comes in many different configurations. Your interactions with others may include managing teams, engaging with partners within and without your company, and networking. Leadership is most comprehended through example. When you live with peace and soundness, you complete a majority of your work to influence others. Successful communication methods and patterns most naturally follow this foundation, doing more of the work for you than if you were not so well grounded in a well-developed self.

These two, simple concepts undergird your influence. They put others at ease, focus associates on facts to create optimal solutions, and allow others to feel free to operate with the same self-assurance.

Take Time, Every Day

Your life and your entrepreneurship style can be powerful, a bed of creation based on your revitalization-to-performance ratio that produces your dreams and helps others to flourish. In a demanding business world it may seem hard to achieve, but the resilience this approach creates is a critical advantage.

Take time daily. Fill it intentionally with those unique things that nurture you, provide for your needs of growth and fulfillment, and prepare you to engage in the entrepreneurial work of creating another successful day.

Knowing how to balance your revitalization-to-performance ratio will help you not only sustain your Preferred Performance Levels (PPL’s). Your PPL’s help you work hard enough to feel engaged and progressive, and capable enough to daily monitor your direction. Your ideal revitalization:performance ratio will also, and most importantly, help you maintain a feeling of self-worth and be empowered to navigate forward valuing the worth of those in personal and professional support roles in your life as well.

Time: Where You Find Keys to the Work of Creation

Time Is the Medium

The result of what you do, how you do it, and how you perform doing what you do, carries powerful messages. Often the temptation to stay away from the truth keeps you running too hard to stop and look. However, assessing your time use, including your performance, energy levels, and outcomes, is the most direct way to engage with your reality. It is the map that guides you to sensible change, and the medium which you use to mark your outcomes. You can “tack out” in time to see the bigger picture to mark progress, troubleshoot, and detail daily steps,. You can “tack in” to make a closer, daily, hourly, even moment-to-moment study of how things are working for you.

Be empowered as you take time by accepting this parting assignment:

  1. Get a personal calendar - If you do not have a calendar where you personally do your scheduling, get one. Paper works well, and a personalized journal is even better.

  2. Recreate the past two weeks - draw out the days of the week and times of the day, then fill-in what you actually did in that time.

  3. Ponder and make notes of

    1. How well you performed in each of your various interactions and tasks.

    2. What you learn about: the quality and effect of what you do and how you do it, your authenticity, what things are agitating, productive or a waste of time and energy.

    3. How you influence others, and what influence others have on you.

  4. Harvest all the positives - activities, energies, interactions that are natural to you, that add value to your life, others, and what you do.

  5. Finally, determine what you need to stop doing and what one thing you can change to start freeing up energy and create the full life you want to live.

You are worth it. You can do it, one step at a time.
